Festoon Treatment NJ – How Under Eye Bags Are Treated

POSTED ON MONDAY, JUNE 08, 2020 AT 1:58 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Under eye bags forming swollen areas around the lower eyelids can be caused by a genetic condition known as festoons, or malar bags. Festoons create puffy bags beneath the eyes, which can give you a tired, older-looking appearance. If you are looking to revitalize your look by treating your under eye bags, festoon treatment may take years off of your appearance and provide you with long-term, rejuvenating results.

A key component to treating festoons is correctly diagnosing the root cause. Many plastic surgeons misdiagnose under-eye bags, leading to short-term or dissatisfactory resolutions.

To combat misdiagnosis, Dr. Asaadi developed the “Botox® Test”. During the Botox® Test, a small amount of Botox® is injected into the area surrounding the eye, and the response is observed. If the appearance of malar mounds remains unchanged, this indicates they are caused by excess fat. If the appearance of festoons worsens however, this indicates that the root cause is most likely muscle laxity. Making this initial diagnosis allows for more precise treatment which can produce long-lasting improvements to the appearance of under-eye bags.

Depending upon your malar bag diagnosis, you may receive one of two treatments. If it is determined that your malar mounds are caused by excess fat deposits underneath the skin, these pockets of fat will be surgically removed. If your festoons are caused by muscle laxity, the ligaments of the surrounding eye muscles may be released to reduce the puffy appearance associated with festoons, and if beneficial, a portion of the muscle may be removed, and the remaining muscles reattached to a more stable area below the eyelid.

Festoon treatment is a difficult, highly individualized procedure, but when performed by a skilled plastic surgeon who understands your unique anatomy, treatment can provide long-term results with no need for further revision.

Breast Augmentation NJ – What To Consider Before Breast Implant Surgery

POSTED ON THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2020 AT 3:16 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

After pregnancy or weight fluctuations, many women may seek out breast augmentation surgery to improve their confidence, feel more youthful, or fit into clothing more comfortably. Breast augmentation surgery can improve the appearance of the breasts by enhancing their shape, size, and contours. Breast augmentation can also treat asymmetries in the breasts, creating a balanced, youthful look. Breast augmentation surgery is a highly individualized procedure however, and requires several considerations when searching for the right plastic surgeon.

Saline or Silicone Implants?

The two primary options for breast implants include silicone and saline implants. Silicone implants are filled with a silicone fluid which make any ruptures in the implant difficult to detect. Silicone implants require regular check-ups after breast augmentation surgery to ensure no ruptures or other issues occur during the life of the implant.

To prevent complications and to give the breasts a natural-looking shape and feel, Dr. Asaadi only uses saline implants in breast augmentation surgery. Saline implants are filled with a safe, sterile saltwater solution.

Prevent Capsular Contracture After Breast Augmentation

Dr. Asaadi utilizes the inframammary approach when placing breast implants. The saline implants are inserted through an incision placed discreetly under the natural crease of the breast, called the inframammary incision. In comparison to other incision methods, the inframammary approach reduces the risk of developing capsular contracture.

Submuscular Or Subglandular Breast Implant Placement?

Breast implant placement in breast augmentation surgery is also important to consider. Breast implants may be placed above or beneath the muscle. Dr. Asaadi uses the submuscular approach, where the implant is placed underneath the muscle. This placement produces more natural-looking results and also reduces the chance of interference during mammograms.

When performed by a plastic surgeon who understands your goals and individual anatomy, breast augmentation surgery can create long-term, natural-looking results.

Remove Stubborn Fat with the MAsterTuck Liposuction Procedure

POSTED ON THURSDAY, APRIL 16, 2020 AT 10:23 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Many people who struggle to lose weight or sculpt their bodies often notice pockets of fat that develop across their midsection, back, and sides. Oftentimes, fat cannot be targeted and eliminated through exercise and diet alone. When diet and exercise are not enough to eliminate stubborn areas of fat across the body, the MAsterTuck℠ liposuction procedure may be the solution for a firmer-looking physique.

Patented and performed solely by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi, MAsterTuck℠ uses the VASER® LipoSelection system to target and remove fat deposits around the midsection, flanks, and back.

The unique benefit of MAsterTuck℠ utilizing the VASER® Lipo System is that it can remove pockets of fat similarly to traditional liposuction, but does not create excess, drooping skin, sometimes seen from liposuction. The VASER® energy delivered during the MAsterTuck℠ procedure creates a tightening effect, encouraging a firm and smooth final contour and shape.

The MAsterTuck℠ procedure is performed by liquefying fat cells using ultrasound energy delivered through the VASER® Lipo cannula. The VASER® Lipo cannula is inserted beneath the skin through tiny incisions, and does not disrupt fibrous tissues, preventing the development of skin laxity.

The MAsterTuck℠ Procedure At A Glance:

  • May be right for you if you have struggled to eliminate localized fat deposits across your midsection despite dietary restrictions and exercising
  • Ideal candidates are not obese, but have localized deposits of fat they want to remove
  • Encourages skin tightening
  • Results can provide a firmer, more contoured appearance

The MAsterTuck℠ procedure can help you achieve long-lasting improvements to your body’s physique. Following the MAsterTuck℠ procedure, patients typically experience skin contraction for several months after surgery.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about MAsterTuck℠, as well as our other body contouring procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 913.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you can request an appointment online today!

Tummy Tuck and Liposuction For Men

POSTED ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2019 AT 3:40 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Losing a significant amount of weight and following a newfound healthy lifestyle can make you feel good and improve your well-being.

But after major weight loss, many men find themselves facing new struggles such as loose skin, weakened stomach muscles, and stretch marks that can obstruct results and deter confidence, despite all of their hard work.

If you find yourself in this position, procedures such as tummy tuck surgery and liposuction may be the answer to firm-up your body and reveal the true results of your efforts.

What is a Tummy Tuck?

Ideal for men who have undergone significant weight loss, tummy tuck surgery, or abdominoplasty, is designed to tighten and reposition stretched abdominal muscles and remove excess skin from the midsection.

During a tummy tuck, the muscles of the abdomen are repaired and repositioned, while excess skin is removed, creating a firmer and slimmer waistline.

In order to achieve the most substantial results with a tummy tuck, Dr. Mohktar Asaadi pioneered the CORE Abdominoplasty℠ technique.

With this technique, the operating table is raised to a 45° angle so prominent areas of abdominal bulging can be more easily identified and treated.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is often combined with tummy tuck surgery to supplement results and further enhance body contours. There are multiple liposuction options offered, each of which removes stubborn fat in target areas at varying levels of invasiveness. Dr. Asaadi can help you decide which procedure will be most beneficial to your specific needs prior to treatment.

What Results Can I Expect After a Tummy Tuck and Liposuction?

Combining tummy tuck and liposuction procedures can achieve long-lasting, natural-looking results. Patients can expect the reduction of fat and a slimmer appearance across the midsection. Additionally, all incisions are carefully place to ensure post-procedure scars remain virtually unnoticeable.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about tummy tuck surgery or liposuction, as well as our other body contouring procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 913.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

Eyelid Surgery – Fixing Bags Under Eyes

POSTED ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2019 AT 10:10 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

As we age, our skin begins to lose elasticity, resulting in sagging on the arms, legs, face, and neck. All of these changes, but especially those in our face, can make us feel self-conscious about our appearance, and impact how others perceive us. Transformations in one of our most emotive features, our eyes, are especially capable of making us look older or tired.

As one of the most important features for communication and connection, it is essential we feel confident in the appearance of our eyes. For drooping, puffy, and tired eyes, eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can rejuvenate the eyes for a youthful-looking appearance.

What Is Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery is designed to tighten the skin around the eyes and remove malar mounds, or bags around the lower eyelid. Sagging skin of the upper and lower eyelids is tightened by separating fatty tissue and muscle, and trimming away any excess skin.

The sensitive skin of the lower eyelids requires additional precision in the reshaping and repositioning of the skin to remove a puffy or hollow appearance. Alongside eyelid surgery, festoons, or puffy bags under the eye, may be surgically removed to provide a more complete revitalization of the eyes.

Festoons are typically caused by excess fat deposits or muscle laxity, and after determining the cause of your malar bags, Dr. Asaadi can directly address the source by removing fat deposits underneath the eye, or by releasing the ligaments of the surrounding eye muscles.

How Are Under Eye Bags Diagnosed?

Malar bags or festoons typically have one of two causes: excess fat deposits or muscle laxity. In order to diagnose the cause of malar bags, Dr. Asaadi pioneered the “Botox ® Test ”, during which a small amount of Botox® is injected into the orbicularis oculi (the muscle surrounding the eye), and the response to the injection is measured. A worsening of festoons indicates the likely cause is muscle laxity, while no change in the appearance of malar bags indicates that the presence of excess fat is the probable source.

The drooping skin and excess fat treated during eyelid surgery can provide a long-lasting enhancement in the appearance of the eyelids, and help achieve a natural, more youthful appearance. Incisions are also placed in the natural creases of the eyelids to ensure any post-procedure scarring remains concealed.
