Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, can restore the appearance of drooping, tired eyes through the removal of excess skin and fat from the upper and lower eyelids. One of the most common concerns patients seeking eyelid surgery express is severe undereye bags. Often misdiagnosed, these undereye bags may actually be what is known as festoons, or malar bags. Patients with sagging skin or puffiness underneath the eyes are candidates for this procedure. Eyelid surgery achieves natural, younger-looking results.
Festoons are a genetic condition that result in puffiness below the lower eyelid and above the cheeks and can also appear as puffy eye bags. They are the result of either fat deposits around the eyes or muscle laxity. This causes the skin and face to appear tired and older-looking.
Treating and Diagnosing Festoons
The two main causes for festoons are excess fat and muscle laxity, and it is important to correctly diagnose a patient to create the proper treatment plan to remove festoons. Festoons can be particularly difficult to diagnose, which is why Dr. Asaadi has pioneered the Botox® Test for diagnosing and treatment.
Through the Botox® Test, a small amount of Botox is injected into the area around the eye. If the festoons become worse, the root cause is muscle laxity. This can be treated through releasing ligaments of surrounding eye muscles to reduce puffiness. If there is no change after the injection, the root cause is excess fat. This can be treated by surgically removing the fat deposits.
Why Choose Dr. Asaadi to Remove Festoons?
Dr. Asaadi specializes in diagnosing and treating festoons. Blepharoplasty is considered one of the most difficult plastic surgery procedures, and it requires expertise, attention to detail, and a highly skilled surgeon to perform correctly. If too much fat is removed from the lower eye, it can create a hollow look. Dr. Asaadi utilizes a unique method of correcting hollowness and puffiness, resulting in a youthful, fuller, and refreshed appearance.

Breast implant replacement is performed to remove current breast implants and replace them with new implants. This procedure is available at Asaadi Plastic Surgery to remove, replace, and reposition the breast implants and provide the patient with their desired appearance. A common reason for replacing breast implants is to reposition the implants to better fit your body’s physique. Reasons to consider this procedure, and the right time for breast implant replacement can be based on cosmetic factors and medical concerns.
When to Replace Breast Implants
The time to replace breast implants can vary from patient to patient. Age, health, personal changes or preferences, and the expertise of your surgeon can determine how often breast implants need to be replaced. Choosing a skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon is essential for any surgery. Important details your surgeon should consider when preforming breast implant surgery includes skin laxity, height, and body composition of their patient. If an unskilled surgeon does not take these factors into consideration, the results may look less natural. These factors can greatly impact the results of breast implant procedures.
Cosmetic Reasons to Remove Breast Implants
-
A patient may choose to replace their implants because they are unhappy with the current size or shape and want to either increase or decrease the size of their implants.
-
Some patients may gain or lose weight, changing the proportions of the body which alters the look of the implants. New implants can better fit a patient’s body physique.
-
If a patient is unhappy with the results of their implants from another surgeon. This can occur due to the previous doctor having incorrect knowledge of the patient’s anatomy. Skin laxity, height, and body composition of the patient are important to consider when choosing the size and shape of breast implants.
-
Exchanging silicone implants to saline implants, which are known to be safer and more natural-looking than silicone implants. Dr. Asaadi only uses saline breast implants.
Medical Reasons to Remove Breast Implants
-
If the patient is involved in an accident or experience trauma, the implant may leak or rupture. Removal and replacement would be required in this scenario.
-
The possibility of infection or capsular contracture can also occur with breast implants, although it is rare. Capsular contracture is a medical condition where the tissue surrounding the implant becomes too firm. This requires removal and replacement of the implant.
Dr. Asaadi and our staff are available to discuss any questions or concerns regarding breast implant replacement surgery, or any of our other plastic surgery procedures. Please contact our New Jersey office, our New York office, or request an appointment online today!

After carrying children, women often struggle to get their pre-pregnancy body back and battle feelings of insecurity. A mommy makeover can restore contours and confidence!
The mommy makeover procedure is highly individualized to suit each patient’s body and achieve their desired results. Mommy makeover surgery combines a variety of procedures to leave patients feeling like a new and improved version of themselves.
What Does a Mommy Makeover Include?
A mommy makeover can address many areas of concern, including, but not limited to, the breasts, abdomen, waist, and buttocks. Some of the most common procedures combined during a mommy makeover include breast enhancement, liposuction, and a tummy tuck.
Breast Enhancement
Breast enhancement improves the size, shape, and symmetry of the breasts. Some breast enhancement procedures available at Asaadi Plastic Surgery include breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, and more.
Liposuction
Liposuction removes stubborn pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. There are multiple options when it comes to undergoing liposuction. Our plastic surgeon will help you determine the best option depending on your body and goals during your consultation.
Tummy Tuck
Tummy tuck surgery address loose skin, stretch marks, weakened stomach muscles, and excess fat in the abdomen. These problems are common following pregnancy and can be extremely difficult to reverse without undergoing cosmetic surgery. Tummy tuck surgery corrects these concerns by repairing weakened muscles and removing any loose or excess skin.
Who Is A Good Candidate For Mommy Makeover?
The ideal candidate for mommy makeover is in good overall health. This is not a weight-loss procedure, so patients should be near their ideal body weight. Additionally, mommy makeover patients should be finished having children. Although it is possible to bear children following the procedure, it can greatly affect your results.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Many women who are fighting breast cancer often undergo a mastectomy or double mastectomy in order to treat existing cancer or prevent it from forming in high-risk cases.
During this procedure, all or part of the patient’s breasts may be removed.
While every woman approaches and experiences a mastectomy in their own way, it can sometimes leave a patient feeling mournful, insecure, or anxious.
At Asaadi Plastic Surgery, breast reconstruction surgery is offered to help restore the sense of femininity and sexuality that some women feel they lose after winning their courageous battle with breast cancer.
What is Breast Reconstruction Surgery?
Breast reconstruction surgery, also known as reconstruction mammoplasty, restores natural-looking breasts for women who have lost breast tissue as a result of a mastectomy, lumpectomy, or other medical procedures.
How is Breast Reconstruction Surgery Performed?
During breast reconstruction surgery, a tissue expander is used to create a pocket in which a saline breast implant can be inserted. After the implant is placed, Dr. Asaadi will use discreet sutures to close the incisions. In some cases, this will create a breast mound, so an implant may not be needed.
After the pocket is created, further symmetry and contours can be achieved through fat grafting. During this procedure, fat is harvested from other areas of the body, such as the back or abdomen, and transferred to the breasts.
What are the Benefits of Breast Reconstruction Surgery?
-
Restored size, shape, and appearance of the breasts
-
Natural-looking results
-
Can be performed immediately following mastectomy or lumpectomy
-
Restores a sense of confidence and femininity

Dr. Asaadi will provide you with pre-surgery instructions that are to be followed to ensure both the procedure and healing process go smoothly.
What Can I Expect After My Breast Reconstruction Surgery?
The healing process following breast reconstruction will look different for every patient. Depending on the extent of your procedure and your body’s rate of healing, recovery time will vary.
After your breast reconstruction surgery, you may experience some side effects including soreness, bruising, swelling, and inflammation. Stitches are usually removed 1-2 weeks post-surgery. Patients should avoid all strenuous activity until given the go-ahead by Dr. Asaadi.
