Add Volume & Slim Unwanted Fat With Fat Transfer In NJ

POSTED ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2020 AT 3:42 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Fat transfer is an innovative procedure that can simultaneously volumize your profile while also removing stubborn fat from problem areas. Fat transfer can achieve the benefits of liposuction in addition to reducing the signs of aging, including sagging skin, fine lines, and wrinkles. At Asaadi Plastic Surgery, we offer facial fat transfer to revitalize your facial profile and natural breast augmentation to enhance breast volume using your body’s natural fat cells. Learn more about these fat grafting procedures below.

Fat Transfer Overview

Fat transfer is a two part procedure that can slim down unwanted fat while adding natural-looking volume. During fat grafting, your natural fat cells are harvested via liposuction from a donor area (usually the buttocks, thighs, or abdomen). These fat cells are then taken and injected into the desired target area(s). Fat transfer injections can target the upper, mid, and lower face to improve facial volume. Additionally, fat transfer can add shape and fullness to your breasts.

Facial Fat Transfer

Facial fat transfer can revitalize your profile and add youthfulness to your expression without the downtime associated with traditional facial surgery. Fat transfer can smooth forehead furrows and wrinkles around the eyes, volumize hollow cheeks, and fill in fine lines around the mouth.

Many patients see pronounced results with facial fat transfer alone. In some cases, fat transfer can also be combined with a facelift to further accentuate results. During this combination procedure, excess skin is removed and repositioned to correct facial laxity. Your natural fat cells are then injected to add natural-looking volume to areas that have lost definition.

Breast Fat Transfer

Breast fat transfer, also known as natural breast augmentation, can achieve fuller, shapelier breasts without the need for breast implants. Excess fat is taken from a donor area and injected into the breasts to add size and enhance breast contours. Breast fat transfer requires less recovery time than breast implant surgery and may be an ideal option for patients who prefer a natural alternative to implants.

Breast Lift Surgery In NJ For Youthful-Looking Breasts

POSTED ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12, 2020 AT 1:31 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Breast lifts are the gold standard to address drooping, lax skin around the breasts. Breast lift surgery is commonly associated with mommy makeovers, since many mothers opt for breast lifts due to the physical changes from pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, breast lift surgery may be ideal for any patient experiencing sagging breasts. Our New Jersey plastic surgeon specializes in breast lift surgery to raise and reshape the breasts for a more youthful-looking appearance.

What Causes Drooping Breasts?

There are many factors that can contribute to sagging breasts. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are well-known causes, but weight fluctuations may also play a role. Additionally, our skin inevitably begins to lose firmness and elasticity as we age, leading to drooping. In some cases, patients may simply have lower breasts due to genetics.

What Is A Breast Lift?

Breast lift surgery is designed to reposition sagging breasts by subtly lifting them to a higher position. The nipples and surrounding areolas can also be reshaped and repositioned for youthful-looking results.

There are multiple breast lift techniques that can be performed, depending on your individual procedure goals, as well as the extent of sagging and drooping.

Below are the three most common types of breast lifts:

  • Doughnut Breast Lift: Ideal for mild-to-moderate breast sagging. The incision is placed around the areola.
  • Lollipop Breast Lift: Ideal for moderate sagging. Incisions are made around the areola and vertically down to the base of the breast.
  • Anchor Breast Lift: Ideal for moderate-to-severe sagging. An incision is placed along the base of the breast, along with a vertical incision to the natural crease of the breast and a small incision on the areola border.

What Can I Expect After Breast Lift Surgery?

Breast lift surgery can yield transformative, natural-looking results. Patients usually return to work within 1-2 weeks of their breast lift. A compression bra will be supplied to help hold your breasts in place to promote proper recovery. Stitches are typically removed within 1-2 weeks. Pain medication can be prescribed to reduce any discomfort.

Can My Breast Lift Be Combined With Breast Implants?

Breast lift surgery can be combined with breast implants for comprehensive results. Breast implants can add natural-looking size to your breasts, while a breast lift can reduce sagging and reshape the breasts for a fuller, more youthful look.

Getting Firm, Sculpted Arms with Arm Lift Surgery in NJ

POSTED ON FRIDAY, JULY 24, 2020 AT 10:56 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Hanging, or excess skin around the arms is common in those who have experienced substantial weight loss. The loss of firmness and elasticity in the skin, which occurs naturally with age, can also lead to pockets of loose, hanging skin around the triceps. This excess skin can make you feel self-conscious, especially during the summer months when wearing sleeveless and short sleeved tops. If you are in this position and wish to slim and tighten your arms, arm lift surgery may be for you.

What Is Arm Lift Surgery?

Arm lift surgery is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the upper arm by tightening, smoothing, and reshaping the supportive tissue around the arm through the removal of excess skin.

How Is Arm Lift Surgery Performed?

Dr. Asaadi utilizes the avulsion arm lift technique. This technique uses  a combination of liposuction and surgical excision of loose skin. During this method, a tumescent anesthetic solution is first applied to the area, followed by tiny incisions where a small cannula can be inserted under the skin to gently extract excess fat cells. Liposuction immediately helps sculpt the arms and create smooth contours.

Following liposuction, arm lift surgery is performed, removing any excess skin hanging from the arms. The avulsion arm lift technique minimizes bruising, swelling, and trauma to the area, while also preserving lymphatics.

After arm lift surgery, patients can expect tightened, sculpted, and more youthful-looking arms. Carefully placed incisions ensure that post-surgery scars remain virtually unnoticeable, and a skilled surgeon will pay careful attention to ensure a symmetrical balance between the arms.

Should I Get Arm Lift Surgery?

You may be a candidate for arm lift surgery if:

  • You have experienced significant weight loss and are now dealing with drooping skin around your arms as a result
  • You have noticed sagging skin developing around your arms as you have aged
  • You are of a relatively healthy weight

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about arm lift surgery, as well as our other body contouring procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 913.731.7000, our New York office at 212.938.0158, or you may request an appointment online today!

Festoon Treatment NJ – How Under Eye Bags Are Treated

POSTED ON MONDAY, JUNE 08, 2020 AT 1:58 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Under eye bags forming swollen areas around the lower eyelids can be caused by a genetic condition known as festoons, or malar bags. Festoons create puffy bags beneath the eyes, which can give you a tired, older-looking appearance. If you are looking to revitalize your look by treating your under eye bags, festoon treatment may take years off of your appearance and provide you with long-term, rejuvenating results.

A key component to treating festoons is correctly diagnosing the root cause. Many plastic surgeons misdiagnose under-eye bags, leading to short-term or dissatisfactory resolutions.

To combat misdiagnosis, Dr. Asaadi developed the “Botox® Test”. During the Botox® Test, a small amount of Botox® is injected into the area surrounding the eye, and the response is observed. If the appearance of malar mounds remains unchanged, this indicates they are caused by excess fat. If the appearance of festoons worsens however, this indicates that the root cause is most likely muscle laxity. Making this initial diagnosis allows for more precise treatment which can produce long-lasting improvements to the appearance of under-eye bags.

Depending upon your malar bag diagnosis, you may receive one of two treatments. If it is determined that your malar mounds are caused by excess fat deposits underneath the skin, these pockets of fat will be surgically removed. If your festoons are caused by muscle laxity, the ligaments of the surrounding eye muscles may be released to reduce the puffy appearance associated with festoons, and if beneficial, a portion of the muscle may be removed, and the remaining muscles reattached to a more stable area below the eyelid.

Festoon treatment is a difficult, highly individualized procedure, but when performed by a skilled plastic surgeon who understands your unique anatomy, treatment can provide long-term results with no need for further revision.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you have about festoon treatment, as well as our other facial rejuvenation procedures. Breast Augmentation NJ – What To Consider Before Breast Implant Surgery

POSTED ON THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2020 AT 3:16 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

After pregnancy or weight fluctuations, many women may seek out breast augmentation surgery to improve their confidence, feel more youthful, or fit into clothing more comfortably. Breast augmentation surgery can improve the appearance of the breasts by enhancing their shape, size, and contours. Breast augmentation can also treat asymmetries in the breasts, creating a balanced, youthful look. Breast augmentation surgery is a highly individualized procedure however, and requires several considerations when searching for the right plastic surgeon.

Saline or Silicone Implants?

The two primary options for breast implants include silicone and saline implants. Silicone implants are filled with a silicone fluid which make any ruptures in the implant difficult to detect. Silicone implants require regular check-ups after breast augmentation surgery to ensure no ruptures or other issues occur during the life of the implant.

To prevent complications and to give the breasts a natural-looking shape and feel, Dr. Asaadi only uses saline implants in breast augmentation surgery. Saline implants are filled with a safe, sterile saltwater solution.

Prevent Capsular Contracture After Breast Augmentation

Dr. Asaadi utilizes the inframammary approach when placing breast implants. The saline implants are inserted through an incision placed discreetly under the natural crease of the breast, called the inframammary incision. In comparison to other incision methods, the inframammary approach reduces the risk of developing capsular contracture.

Submuscular Or Subglandular Breast Implant Placement?

Breast implant placement in breast augmentation surgery is also important to consider. Breast implants may be placed above or beneath the muscle. Dr. Asaadi uses the submuscular approach, where the implant is placed underneath the muscle. This placement produces more natural-looking results and also reduces the chance of interference during mammograms.

When performed by a plastic surgeon who understands your goals and individual anatomy, breast augmentation surgery can create long-term, natural-looking results.
