How Dr. Asaadi’s “Botox® Test” Can Properly Diagnosis Malar Mounds And Festoons!

POSTED ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27, 2016 AT 9:45 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Under-eye bags often present aesthetic concerns for patients, as they can result in a tired or older-looking appearance. Two specific conditions—malar mounds and festoons—both present themselves as severe under-eye bags that can affect confidence in one’s look. At first glance, it is extremely difficult to tell the cause of these troublesome conditions.

As a result, Dr. Asaadi has pioneered the “Botox® Test” to discern the true cause of malar bags and festoons. Botox® is a cosmetic injectable that temporarily relaxes muscles and prevents nerve impulses. This simple test is used in order to correctly diagnose your under-eye bags so that a proper treatment plan can be formulated. See how it works below!

Undergoing The Botox® Test

In order to find the root cause of your malar mounds, Dr. Asaadi will carefully inject a small amount of Botox® into the orbicularis oculi, also known as the muscle around your eye. One possible cause is the presence of excess fat around the eye and upper cheek, which is causing your puffy appearance. Another possible reason for the occurrence of malar bags is muscle laxity around the eye that leads to sagging skin around the area.

If your Botox® injection causes your malar mounds to temporarily get worse, then this is a sign that your under-eye bags are caused by muscle laxity. However, if there is no change in the appearance of your festoons after your Botox® Test, then this shows that your condition is caused by excess fat around the eye.

Upon finding the reason for your under-eye bags, Dr. Asaadi can then formulate a proper treatment plan to improve the appearance of these issues. The Botox® Test is an important tool in the correction of malar mounds and festoons. Here at Asaadi Plastic Surgery, we aim to provide solutions to these issues that yield natural-looking results, as well as inspire confidence.

Non-Surgical Treatments to Look Your Best this Holiday Season!

POSTED ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 04, 2015 AT 9:34 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Patients looking to improve their appearance non-surgically in time for the holidays can choose from a variety of procedures to achieve natural-looking results. Cosmetic treatments, such as laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels, can remove damaged skin cells to improve your complexion, while cosmetic fillers can smooth facial wrinkles and folds. Additionally, patients can opt for Ultherapy® to tighten facial tissues and provide a lifting effect for the skin.

Laser Skin Resurfacing For a Glowing Complexion!

Laser skin resurfacing can be used to treat a variety of facial conditions. Laser energy can target fine lines around the eyes or mouth, while encouraging collagen production to promote skin tightening. Laser skin resurfacing can also correct uneven pigmentation and scarring from acne to improve skin tone and smooth your complexion. Laser skin resurfacing treatment takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and requires minimal downtime.

Revitalize Your Skin With A Chemical Peel!

Chemical peels target the outer layers of your skin that are affected by blemishes, redness, uneven pigmentation, and acne scars. A chemical peel uses a specialized solution to remove the damaged layers of skin, allowing for new skin cells to grow. These new layers of skin contribute to a smooth, even complexion. Patients can choose from numerous types of peels, depending on the characteristics of their skin, as well as their individual goals.

Fillers And BOTOX® To Smooth Fine Lines And Folds!

Various types of cosmetic fillers can be utilized to achieve facial fullness and smooth wrinkles or lines. Juvederm® can fill folds around the eyelids and plump up the lips, while Belotero® targets fine lines around the mouth for a youthful smile. In addition, Voluma® can add volume to the cheeks and midface. While these cosmetic fillers utilize hyaluronic acid to fill facial lines, BOTOX® takes a different approach. During BOTOX® treatment, the solution relaxes facial muscles to reduce the appearance of forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet.

Lift Your Skin With Ultherapy®

Ultherapy® uses ultrasound energy to produce a firming effect for facial tissues by delivering heat to the deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen growth. This increase in collagen production results in gradual skin tightening for a lifting effect. Patients can undergo Ultherapy® to achieve younger-looking skin.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels, cosmetic fillers, and Ultherapy® , as well as any of our other procedures. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, or you may request an appointment online today!

Cosmetic Fillers for Fast, Non-Invasive Results!

POSTED ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 04, 2015 AT 1:24 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Cosmetic fillers are a popular choice among patients looking to add facial volume and fill lines. As we begin to age, factors such as sun exposure and repeated movement of facial muscles contribute to wrinkles and a loss of facial fullness. When it comes to looking younger, patients may choose to explore the benefits of cosmetic fillers and natural fat transfer.

Fill Wrinkles And Add Volume With Cosmetic Fillers!

Cosmetic fillers can fill creases, volumize sunken areas, and add fullness to the cheeks, eyelids, lips and face. Fillers like Juvederm®, Voluma®, and Belotero® utilize hyaluronic acid—a substance found naturally in the body—to provide natural-looking results with a simple, minimally-invasive injection. There is no downtime associated with cosmetic fillers and you are free to resume daily activities immediately after treatment. Additionally, results are achieved upon injection and can last up to 1-2 years. Advantages like these make Juvederm®, Voluma®, and Belotero® treatments some of the most commonly-requested procedures. Your plastic surgeon will evaluate your facial features to plan the best course of action for your desired results.

Use Natural Fat To Add Fullness!

Did you know you can fill facial areas and minimize wrinkles using your body’s natural fat? Fat transfer injections can volumize hollowed cheeks or lips and fill wrinkles around the nose, mouth, or forehead. First, your plastic surgeon will treat both the donor and receipient areas with local anesthesia to ensure minimal discomfort during your fat transfer. Fat cells will then be extracted from a donor location with small amounts of excess fat—potential areas include your buttocks, thighs, or abdomen. Next, this fat is injected into the desired facial area in one simple procedure. Slight redness and bruising may occur after treatment—this is normal and your symptoms should subside within days. Results can last from 6 months to over a year.

Cosmetic fillers and fat transfer injections can help achieve and more youthful-looking, rejuvenated appearance. See which options may be right for you by looking at the chart below.

Dr. Asaadi’s Pressure Test for Diagnosing Migraines!

POSTED ON TUESDAY, MAY 19, 2015 AT 2:25 PM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Migraine headaches are extremely painful. Symptoms like sudden pain, intense nausea, and vomiting can last for hours during an attack. Not only do these headaches cause physical pain, but they also affect your daily life—disrupting your plans at any given moment.

Here at Asaadi Plastic Surgery, we are dedicated to finding innovative solutions that improve your quality of life and inspire confidence in yourself. Dr. Asaadi’s pressure test is designed to properly diagnose the cause of your migraine so an individualized and effective treatment plan can be applied.

During the pressure test, Dr. Asaadi will test four trigger points on your face: your two temples, the area above your eyebrow, and your nose. In order to do so, a saline solution will be injected into these pressure points. If you develop a headache after the injection, this determines that pressure to the surrounding nerves is causing your migraine.

After diagnosing the cause of your migraine, Dr. Asaadi can then treat the surrounding muscles to release pressure on that nerve and prevent future migraines from occurring. The following patient was suffering from severe migraines twice a month, in addition to daily headaches. She also experienced frequent nausea and vomiting as a result. After visiting Dr. Asaadi and undergoing a pressure test, she received proper treatment that cured her of her migraines! You can view her story below:

Dr. Asaadi and our staff welcome any questions you may have about our pressure test, as well as the proper treatment needed to relieve migraines or headaches. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000, or you may request an appointment online today!
