Changes To The Nose - NJ Rhinoplasty

POSTED ON MONDAY, JULY 07, 2025 AT 9:00 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Noticing a difference in your facial appearance as an adult? While most body parts stop changing after puberty and bones stop growing around age 20, soft tissue and cartilage can continue to change. A significant factor in our facial profile is the nose, made up of cartilage. Many people base their youthful looks on aesthetic influences such as their nose. Injuries, aging, hormonal changes, and overall genetics can alter nose shape and size.

Changes to the nose can be addressed with nose surgery for aesthetic or medical purposes. Rhinoplasty is one of the most common facial plastic surgery procedures done to address functional issues or to alter nasal appearance.

What Causes Changes To The Nose?

There are many potential causes to changes of the nose shape and size, some of which are unavoidable like genetics and aging. Genetics play a large role in your nose shape and size. Birth defects that cause nasal deformities such as a deviated septum can be genetic and affect the functionality of the nose. With age, some patients experience hormonal changes that can affect nose shape and size, such as pregnancy that increases estrogen levels, making the nose appear larger and rounder.

But there are also causes to changes of nose shape and size that are not influenced based on genetics, aging, or hormones, such as nasal injuries and changes of surrounding facial features. Injury or trauma that results in a broken nose or nasal fracture can not only cause shape deformities, but health complications, including a deviated septum. When a nasal injury occurs, sometimes the only option to restore function and aesthetics to the nose is surgery. Loss of facial volume to the cheeks and sagging skin with age can also cause the nose to appear larger, impacting facial harmony.

How Does The Nose Change With Age?

The nose is comprised of cartilage, which can weaken and soften as we age. Nose cartilage can even become more brittle, and you may experience a decrease in the number of nasal blood vessels. Sometimes, the cartilage that attaches to the top and bottom parts of the nose separates completely. With age the nasal skin can experience a loss of elasticity, which can cause the nasal tip to sag and look rounder and larger. Because the nose is one of the main focal points of the face, it is responsible for facial harmony. Any changes to surrounding facial features such as sunken cheeks, jowls, or lip size can all contribute to a nose that looks bigger or unbalanced. In some cases, simply correcting other facial areas of concern can rebalance the facial contours and nose.

How Can Changes To The Nose Be Corrected?

Nose surgery, also known as rhinoplasty, can address nose shape, size, and function. Rhinoplasty can provide patients with the appearance they’ve been looking for, enhancing their nose shape and contour to best suit their face. The surgery can also alleviate functional issues of the nose such as breathing difficulties caused by a deviated septum and if needed the septum is corrected to achieve desired results. Rhinoplasty can achieve a younger-looking, balanced profile, and rejuvenating results. If a patient previously underwent nose surgery, and was left unhappy with the results they can undergo revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Asaadi. Revision rhinoplasty corrects any issues in aesthetics or function left from a previous surgery.

NJ CORE Abdominoplasty Vs. Traditional Tummy Tuck

POSTED ON MONDAY, JUNE 02, 2025 AT 9:00 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Body contouring procedures can help achieve a sculpted figure and repair damaged abdominal muscles. Patients who experience excess skin and fat of the abdomen following weight loss or pregnancy may benefit from tummy tuck surgery.

Abdominoplasty is meant to create a toned, firm midsection by repairing weakened muscles while addressing excess skin and fat. Abdominoplasty is ideal for individuals who have undergone a considerable amount of weight loss or women who have weakened stomach muscles due to pregnancy. Traditional tummy tuck surgery removes excess skin and fat that is resistant to diet and exercise. While traditional tummy tuck surgery is an effective body contouring solution, it can sometimes miss abdominal bulges. CORE Abdominoplasty℠ is a revolutionary method of abdominoplasty pioneered by Dr. Asaadi that targets fat traditional techniques may miss.

Traditional Tummy Tuck

Traditional tummy tuck surgery is one of the most common body sculpting procedures performed. Tummy tuck utilizes an incision made in the lower abdomen to remove excess fat and skin, followed by tightening of the muscles before closing the incision. During surgery, the patient is lying completely flat. A traditional tummy tuck can achieve a slimmer waistline by repositioning stomach muscles closer together and simultaneously correct the belly button.

CORE Abdominoplasty℠

CORE Abdominoplasty℠ was developed by Dr. Asaadi to remove excess fat and skin with more precision. The difference between this procedure is that the patients undergo a “Table Tilt Test”, which repositions the patient into a semi-sitting position at a 45° angle during surgery. Because the patient is still under general anesthesia, the body can fully rest and further bulges can be detected. Dr. Asaadi then proceeds to tighten additional muscles as needed to achieve the flattest midsection possible. CORE Abdominoplasty℠ is more ideal for patients with moderate weight loss as significant amounts of fat being adjusted can lead to health complications following the procedure.

A traditional tummy tuck surgery and CORE Abdominoplasty℠ can help patients remove excess fat and skin of the lower abdomen. While both methods of abdominoplasty can achieve a natural-looking, firm figure for patients, CORE Abdominoplasty℠ is a more comprehensive procedure.

During a consultation at Asaadi Plastic Surgery, Dr. Asaadi will take into consideration your anatomy, health, and cosmetic goals to determine if you are a candidate for abdominoplasty and help determine which method is right for you.

NJ Male Weight Loss - Body Contouring For Men

POSTED ON TUESDAY, MAY 06, 2025 AT 9:00 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Weight loss can drastically improve an individual’s physical and mental well-being. However, when excess fat or skin is left after weight loss, patients can experience discomfort that interferes with their desired outcome.

Body contouring for men following weight loss offers cosmetic procedures to remove fat deposits and excess skin for a more toned and sculpted appearance. Body contouring for men has become increasingly popular. Learn more about male plastic surgery to enhance weight loss results below!

Liposuction For Men

Liposuction is among one of the most common body contouring procedures performed. While weight loss reduces fat, it cannot control which specific areas the fat is lost from. Liposuction can treat specific areas resistant to diet and exercise to reduce pockets of stubborn fat and enhance weight loss results. Common areas lipo for men target include the arms, chest, abdomen, and love handles. Today’s minimally invasive techniques offer minimal downtime and skin tightening benefits.

Male Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, targets loose abdominal skin, weakened stomach muscles, and excess fat. A tummy tuck is ideal for men looking to tighten and tone their abdomen. Factors such as aging, obesity, and improper lifting can cause men to experience diastasis recti (or separation of the abdomen muscles). The only way diastasis recti can be corrected is through tummy tuck surgery. Tummy tuck surgery is often combined with liposuction to remove excess fat and skin to achieve a slimmer, contoured waistline.

Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia surgery, also known as male breast reduction, removes excess breast tissue and fat in men for a sculpted and toned chest. Gynecomastia surgery can treat excess skin following weight loss. Liposuction is most often performed to remove excess tissue during gynecomastia.

Body Lift For Men

A body lift is performed to address multiple cosmetic concerns of the body at once. Body lift surgery procedure targets excess skin following significant weight loss. A body lift can provide improvements to the abdomen, arms, back, legs, and more. After significant weight loss, stretched skin and tissue often lack elasticity to conform to the new body shape. Undergoing a body lift, removes any excess skin and tissue while tightening lax skin and repairing damaged muscles.

Why Plastic Surgery After Weight Loss

Studies show the percentage of men obtaining plastic surgery increases annually. Body plastic surgery can remove excess or loose skin while sculpting the body. After weight loss, excess skin can increase the chances of infections, skin irritation, negative body image, and more. Undergoing body contouring can enhance masculine physique and address problem areas.

Dr. Asaadi and our staff are happy to discuss and answer any questions about body contouring procedures for men. Contact our New Jersey office at 973.731.7000 or request an appointment online today!

SKINVIVE™ by Juvéderm is the first FDA approved hyaluronic acid injectable used to increase hydration, improving skin smoothness. This cosmetic injectable is suitable for all skin tones and types and works below the surface level to achieve healthier skin. SKINVIVE™ is ideal for patients looking to restore hydration and improve their skin tone and texture.

How Does SKINVIVE™ Work?

The injections are inserted into the skin using small droplet injections under the outer layer of the skin. SKINVIVE™ filler immediately diffuses in an even, thin layer, instantly increasing moisturization and improving skin. The micro droplets of hyaluronic acid used differentiates SKINVIVE™ from other cosmetic treatments as it works to increase hydration just below the skin’s surface. SKINVIVE™ also contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic that numbs the skin, making SKINVIVE™ a comfortable and painless procedure for patients. The SKINVIVE™ treatment typically takes 15 minutes for injections but can vary for each individual patient.

SKINVIVE™ may be right for you if you are looking for a rejuvenating, minimally invasive cosmetic treatment. The main benefits of SKINVIVE™ are improved skin texture and enhanced hydration. SKINVIVE™ reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and targets acne scars and rough skin. The hyaluronic acid draws in moisture from surrounding areas to restore hydration to the skin. Revision Festoon Surgery NJ - Best Festoon Surgeon

POSTED ON TUESDAY, MARCH 04, 2025 AT 9:00 AM by Dr. Mokhtar Asaadi

Taking the steps to remove festoons by undergoing festoon surgery or non-invasive treatments only to be left with incomplete festoon removal, complications, or a worse appearance can take a toll on a person’s health and self-esteem. Revision festoon surgery is a secondary surgical procedure to correct the results or fix complications from previous festoon surgery or treatments.

What Are Festoons?

Festoons are pockets of fluid that surface on the face between the eyelid and cheek region and can occur for a variety of reasons. Festoons contribute to a tired appearance with swelling around or under the eye, occasionally resembling dark circles under the eye. Festoons can be difficult to treat due to their complex nature.

What To Know When Considering Festoon Surgery Or Treatments

Before undergoing festoon surgery, it is important to determine the cause behind your festoons. While they can be a result of genetic factors and aging, festoons can also result from lifestyle factors, such as sun damage, smoking, and undergoing cosmetic fillers. It is important that your plastic surgeon understands the cause behind your festoons, in order to provide the best surgical outcome.

Choosing The Right Plastic Surgeon For Festoon Removal

Dr. Asaadi specializes in festoon surgery and revision festoon surgery, correcting the results or complications from previous festoon surgery or treatments. As festoons are difficult to treat, going to a plastic surgeon that understands and can effectively remove festoons is important. Undergoing festoon surgery with a surgeon that does not understand the intricacies of festoons can result in unsuccessful results. At Asaadi Plastic Surgery, we see an increase in patients seeking revision surgery following unsuccessful removal from other providers demonstrating ineffective techniques and understanding of the complexities and nuances of festoons and festoon removal surgery. Revision festoon surgery is normally not needed if you go to the right plastic surgeon. Even undergoing non-invasive treatments aimed at reducing festoon appearances can result in more harm than good.

Determine If You Are A Candidate For Revision Festoon Surgery

Patients that have undergone festoon surgery or non-invasive treatments such as cosmetic fillers, lasers, microneedling, and more with unsuccessful results or complications may be candidates for revision festoon surgery. Patients may be seeking revision festoon surgery due to incomplete removal, scarring, eyelid retraction, or ectropion. Ideal patients considering revision festoon surgery have waited at least 6 months after their first treatment, are in good general health, and do not smoke.

Revision Festoon Surgery – What To Expect

Dr. Asaadi and his staff at Asaadi Plastic Surgery will meet with you to evaluate the cause of your festoons. Dr. Asaadi established the Botox® Test, allowing him to diagnose if your festoons are caused by muscle laxity or excess fat. Determining the cause will provide the foundation for proper treatment. Dr. Asaadi will answer any questions you may have and provide you with a treatment plan before and after the procedure. It is important to note that any revision surgery poses unique challenges due to existing scarring and altered anatomy from the initial treatment. Working with an experienced festoon surgeon is essential to achieve the best possible results.
