If you are considering Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery
When you’re severely overweight, the skin and underlying tissues stretch to accommodate your excess bodyweight. After major weight loss, the skin and tissues that have been stretched lack elasticity, making them unable to conform to your body’s new, smaller shape. Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery is a major surgery to improve the tone of your underlying tissues and to remove the redundant skin hanging on your body.
Areas that can be corrected with Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery include:

Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery
Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery is performed in a hospital setting under general anesthesia. In some cases, this surgery can take between eight and nine hours to complete. Depending on your specific case, surgery may include:
- a Lower Body Lift to correct the sagging of the abdomen, groin, buttocks, and outer thighs,
- a Breast Lift to correct sagging or flattened breast tissue,
- an Arm Lift to remove redundant skin on the upper arms, and/or
- a Thigh Lift to correct sagging of the outer, inner, or mid thigh.
On the day of your Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery, you will be administered general anesthesia to ensure your comfort during the surgical procedures. Dr. Asaadi will discuss general anesthesia with you prior to your surgery date. Once you are properly sedated, Dr. Asaadi will begin making incisions to remove excess skin. While the incisions required for Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery are extensive, their exact length and pattern will depend on how much excess skin needs to be removed and from which part of the body. As much as possible, Dr. Asaadi will strive to make your incisions in places that can be covered by most clothing.
In some cases, Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery is performed in stages. Dr. Asaadi will work with you to develop a plan for your specific case during your initial visits.
After Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery
Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery is a major surgical procedure. The recovery period for this surgery is typically three to four weeks, depending on your specific case.
After your surgery, dressings and bandages will be applied to your incisions. A small, thin tube to collect fluid drainage may be temporarily placed under your skin. Dr. Asaadi will give you detailed instructions on when and how your bandages will be removed.
Following your surgery, your scars will go through a healing process for two to three months. As a general rule, the skin of patients who have lost significant amounts of weight takes longer to heal. To minimize your scarring, Dr. Asaadi might suggest laser surgery for your scars in the weeks following your surgery. For the best results, scars should be treated within two weeks after your Body Lift Post Bariatric Surgery.
